Look out Review.
We have just returned from two fantastic weeks at the lookout, and it has proved to be our best family holiday ever. This is quite an achievement as we are seasoned travellers, though this has usually been abroad, not having before this holiday realised that holidaying at home in the UK could offer so much.
The lookout was recommended very highly to us and we therefore went with high expectations, it came as something of a surprise when the lookout managed to surpass all our expectations.
The first thing that must be said is that the views are so magnificent that even though were there for so long, we woke up each day and were still mesmerised by the breath-taking and awesome views and would still comment to each other on how wonderful it was almost as if we were seeing it for the first time.
The accommodation itself was very spacious, well laid out for a family, the décor was to a high standard and the whole place was pristine. A great deal of attention has gone in to the planning of this holiday home as we found that all our needs and requirements were very well catered for even down to a lovely little library which contained so many great books.
The lookout is ideally located as the nearby Seaton just a few minutes’ walk and was our playground for most of the holiday, this beach is really lovely and for the first time in many years we took the plunge all donning wet suits and swam in the Sea in this country, this step came as a surprise to us as we live in a seaside City and had resisted the temptations of the sea here. The difference in Cornwall was that Seaton is such a lovely beach, we all invested in wet suits and found that the sea was really rather warm when in a suit. The waves were great so we were tempted in to another first which was body boarding, really great fun and exhilarating. We have promised next time to have a go at surfing as so many people of all ages seemed to be having the time of their lives surfing. My two girls spent hours on the beach marvelling at all the stunning colours of the pebbles and rock pooling at Downderry Beach.
When we could tear ourselves from the beach we travelled to some of the nearby places, Looe which is lovely with a great beach and lots to do and see, other attractions were the Monkey Sanctuary was fun for the girls, The Eden project was great. We travelled to Lands’ End; it felt quite Iconic and looked dramatic. St Ives was just lovely with loads and loads of small picture galleries dotted everywhere as well as the “Tate”, we swam in the Caribbean like emerald waters of the nearby Carbis Bay which had a huge beach full of golden sands, great for catching crabs and rock pooling as well.
We visited Fowey which is not far in the car from the Lookout and found it to be a very pretty picture post card Town, great Shops and restaurants and the fantastic “Ready Money cove “beach, I could go on and on about how absolutely wonderful it all was but suffice to say we just can’t wait to go back.
We are so thankful that the owners of the lookout had the vision, creativity and know how to create such a special holiday home in a wonderful secluded location.Good Luck and looking forward to next time.
Thank you for a great family holiday. A fantastic seaside home with incredible panoramic views. The house is beautiful, well designed as well as being well equipped. We had a fab time exploring the local area.
I can't recommend the Lookout highly enough! It has everything you could want for a very comfortable and relaxing stay, making it the perfect break from the city. The views are great - even when the sun wasn't shining to wake up in the morning overlooking the sea was absolutely fantastic! All the rooms were clean, light and spacious and all the utilities and facilities we could want for were provided. The are some lovely walks including along the beach which is literally only a couple of minutes away, and if you fancy venturing further out the Eden project is only about half an hours drive away. It really is a great place to stay. We totally loved it and we'll definitely visit again. :D

I just wanted to write to say how much we enjoyed staying at The lookout this Easter. The accomodation was excellent; the rooms were clean and spacious and it had a great modern feel to it. There was plenty of room for us all and the kitchen had everything we needed although the local pub did provide plenty of choice and was a great temptation to us. We had a few warm days and put your bbq to good use. But the highlight definitely was that 'view', very hard to tear yourself away from it! Certainly waking up and hearing the waves crashing down on the beach comes in at a close second. The booking service was clear and straighforward and thankyou to Mrs Holder for providing us with a few touristy details about the eden project and other local attractions. Many thanks once again for a great holiday we will certainly be booking again.sincerely Emma and Mark Robertson and family
It has been an amazing and relaxing break. We will be back soon.Anjaman and Zina
WOW, What a stunning property. We were lucky enough to spend time at “Lookout” in March 2012. We had amazing weather and the property truly came into its own. Amazing sea views from every room and especially in the main open plan living/kitchen area. Just sit at the dining table at any time of day and watch the waves roll in. The panoramic view is truly amazing. It would be glorious come rain or shine. The accommodation is to a very high standard, it is beautifully fitted out and furnished , it is very hard to drag yourself away from the views. However when you do decide to venture out “Lookout” is in a great spot if you just want a gentle stroll into the little village or great for exploring the surrounding areas. Looe Bay which is only 4 miles away has a superb beach which is great for all the family, our 8 year old boy especially liked it.A truly stunning property with the “WOW” factor for a relaxing family holiday. We can’t wait to book again, the sooner the betterDeb, Ryan and Jack
Lookout, Downderry, CornwallWhat an amazing surprise “Lookout” gave us upon our arrival. In the past we have experienced rooms with views and been totally disappointed. This excellent holiday home was clean, modern, well furnished and blooming views to die for! The intention was to have a walking weekend using the home as our base, but as the morning coffee flowed, we found ourselves spell bound by the view. Hours passed like minutes as the nonstop seaward horizon changed with a variety activity. When we actually ventured outside the area was superb, with a host of different walks to offer.Overall we had an excellent few days and enjoyed greatly the accommodation, the walks, the village and most of all “The View” . The house information with the tips on places to visit was great. Lookout is a place that we will definitely come back to. James & Sheila Buckinghamshire
